Hugh Wescott & Mona Breckmann

Since we have invited many people from different countries, this website should have all the information that you need to get yourself to our wedding located in the Faroe Islands

Hugh's Note:

I’m still reflecting on the fact that I’m getting married.  It’s been a wild 34 years. It’s hard to believe that I’m still alive at times, let alone getting married to a woman as exceptional as Mona. Wait until you meet her.  You’ll want to marry her too. It’s surreal to think that my wife has been hiding on a tiny island in the Atlantic this whole time. What fate we had to bring us together? Regardless, I’m a happy man and I’m ready to spend the rest of my life with Mona.

Thank you all for being such great friends over the years.  I don’t associate with low character people. I never have. All of you that are invited are the best humans I’ve met and I’m thankful to have you all as my friends and family.

I completely understand if you can’t make it.  Be it kids, can’t get time off work, too expensive to travel, whatever the case may be, it’s all good.  We can still be friends, I promise. It would be great if you could make it because we’d love to have you, and the Faroe Islands are not a place you want to miss.  We’re going to have a great time.

Please take the time to read our website carefully.  We put a great deal of effort trying to answer all your questions before you’ve asked them.  Here you’ll find answers on the best way to book flights, what airports to use, hotels, airbnb’s, rental cars, things to do, gyms, hikes, festivals, laws to be aware, you name it.  Of course, we will answer any specific questions you have that perhaps we didn’t think of, but remember Mona is focused hard on school at the moment and I’m in some dark shadow of the world somewhere.  We may not be able to answer you right away.

A special thank you to Rafael for being my best man.

I’m excited to have you come celebrate with us.  I can’t wait to see you all in July, if not sooner.

- Hugh

Mona's Note:

OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe that I am getting married! And the fact that it will be with Mr. Hugh Wescott is a huge surprise. He took me by surprise in every way possible. I feel like I am the most blessed woman in the world.

I will make this note short and sweet.

To my friends and family from other countries than Faroe Islands,  it would be an honor to have you at my wedding. You have all impacted my life in such ways that I never can repay you. Therefore, this invitation is for you to see where I am from and to take some days off and enjoy life a little in the magical place I grew up in!

Please let us know if you can make it or not before the end of January.

Elskaðu tit! Takk fyri tykkara tol. Øll hendan heimasíðan er á enskum og brúdleypið sjálvt, kemur ivalyest fyri tað mesta, at vera á enskum. Vónandi kunnu tit koma og hátíðarhalda hendan dagin saman við mær. Familja og vinir hava alt at siga fyri meg og um eg kann fáa tykkum øll saman í eitt rúm, havi eg uppnátt tað týdningarmesta í lívinum.

Hava tit nakrar spurningar, eru tit vælkomin at senda mær eini boð!

Annars, endiliga sigið frá niðanfyri, um tit kunnu koma ella ei.

- Mona

Once your passport is ready, you’ll need to fly to the Faroe Islands.  You can book your flight however you want. Heck, you can sail all the way to the Faroes if you really feel like it.  That would actually be a super cool trip. However, I can offer some advice.

I travel A LOT, and I highly recommend using priceline.com.  Priceline has been the best website, for many years, when it comes to booking flights for the best prices.  But regardless of the way you choose to book your flight, you’ll need to book round trip tickets into Reykjavik, Iceland. For people coming from other countries than America, Priceline should still have the best prices.

Once you have your Iceland or Copenhagen tickets, you’ll need to book the second leg of your flight, into the Faroe Islands.   I recommend that you use Atlantic Airways to book that ticket. This is their link:

On the Atlantic Airways menu screen, you’ll want to book round trip tickets from Reykjavik-KEF to Vagar-FAE or Copenhagen-KBH to Vagar-FAE.  The prices will be listed in Danish Krones (DKK). The exchange rate right now is 6.78 DKK for 1 USD. ‘MERICA!

Make sure to coordinate with the fellow guests that you’re associated with.  E.g. Rangers, family, Maryland friends, SJPH friends, college friends, work friends, Australian friends, London friends, etc.  You guys know what group you’re in. It’s a very good idea to coordinate flights with each other so you can travel together.  It makes things more fun and way easier.

I also HIGHLY recommend anyone in the greater Maryland area to fly in and out of Dulles.  IAD-Dulles offers DIRECT flights to Reykjavik. It will make your life much easier.

You’ll need a place to stay while you are there, AND YOU SHOULD BOOK YOUR LODGING SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.  There is a world-famous music festival called G! Festival happening the same week as our wedding.  Lodging will fill up fast. Please don’t wait too long.

Airbnb’s are a GREAT option.  I would start my search for lodging there.  Again, get with your subgroups and coordinate housing.

If you’d rather stay in a hotel, a quick google search of “hotels in Torshavn” will prompt you with many choices, so you can pick the best price for you.  A good place to start looking would be Hotel Torshavn, The Hilton, and Hotel Foroyar.  We will not be having any hotels registered with the wedding with discounted wedding rates. You’re free to stay where you’d like.

Mona’s cousin Jógvan is a travel agent in the Faroe Islands, and he would love to help you find lodging and rental cars.  For those of you who need help booking lodging and rental cars, send him an email at info@faroeincoming.com.  Make sure to write “Wescott Wedding” in the subject line so he knows you’re a guest to our wedding.

We will not be registered on any website, or any wedding-gift-thing of the sort.  We don’t believe in it. Your gift to us, is you being there for us on our wedding day.  If you feel overly compelled to give us a gift, we will graciously accept whatever you give us.  We would prefer it to be something meaningful and from the heart; something unique that you feel would compliment our relationship with you.
